What is an arborist service?
Arborists are highly qualified tree professionals. They are very good at the science of planting, tending and tending trees.

What is a certified arborist?
A certified arborist is an experienced professional who is certified by the International Society of Arboriculture. You can only earn ISA certification by passing a rigorous certification exam that tests your knowledge of all aspects of arboriculture (the study of how trees grow and how they respond to cultural practices and their environment).

An arborist can provide you with the following tree care services:

  • Tree Removal: A service that removes trees that are dead, infested with insects or pests, pose a threat to property in some way, or are simply no longer needed.
  • Tree Pruning: The removal of branches or stems to promote the health, growth and natural form of the tree.
  • Emergency Tree Care: 24-hour service for trees that have become dangerous due to storms or other dangerous situations.
  • Planting trees: Knowing where, when and how to plant a tree is critical to its success. A certified arborist can help you identify and plant the best tree for your property. This will help ensure the tree’s health and longevity.
  • Tree Health: A certified arborist can diagnose tree diseases or pest problems and provide appropriate recommendations for their treatment.

Why use a (certified) arborist for tree care?
Becoming a certified arborist is no easy task. Not only do these arborists need to have at least 3 years of field experience, they also need to know the latest tree care techniques. This means you get a professional with the experience, skills and expertise to properly care for the trees on your property.

Tree care is much more than meets the eye. The trees on your property are an investment that is directly related to the value of your property. Trees that are not properly trimmed, trimmed or cared for can lead to future property damage. Your overall tree health is critical to maintaining the value of your property and minimizing the risk of future property loss due to poor tree care.

When you choose a certified arborist, you can rest assured that your tree professional knows how to perform any necessary tree trimming, trimming, removal or other tree care in an environmentally responsible manner and maintain the natural health and beauty. And increase the security of your property. Safety is always your top priority, and choosing an untrained arborist can put you, your trees, and your property at risk.

These people often refer to themselves as arborists, when in reality they are just “tree biters” with no understanding of what their uneducated practices or advice to tree owners will do in the short or long term.

Qualified trees are AQF Level 5 Arborists and we offer a range of Arborist services to our clients as detailed below:

Contact an arborist

If you are concerned about the health of your tree, you should contact an arborist for help. Arborists are professionals who care for trees and other shrubs. There are two types of professional arborists: certified and consultants.

Certified arborists can provide planting, pruning, transplanting, fertilizing, monitoring and treatment of pests and diseases, and tree felling. Consultant arborists specialize in diagnosing problems, recommending treatments, evaluating trees and recommending where to obtain professional tree services.

Certification Matters

Landscape is both an art and a science. In science, there are many different specialties, including agronomists, horticulturalists and arborists. While all provide a wealth of landscape knowledge, it is the arborists who specialize in the care of trees.

However, not all arborists are the same. This is why it is imperative to find someone with the title of “Certified Arborist”. The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) created the certification program in the 1980s to designate arborists who meet certain experience and knowledge requirements, pass the certified arborist exam, and receive any necessary continuing education to maintain their certification.

Why hiring a certified arborist is worth the money

Sure, it might be cheaper to hire someone without certification, but it might cost you more in the long run. Because tree care is a dangerous job both in terms of personal safety and responsibility. Incorrect techniques can endanger people and property, and cause damage to trees, making them more vulnerable to pests, disease and structural insecurity. Additionally, proper training makes it easier to spot potential problems before they arise and take action that can prevent storm damage.

You may also hear the term “licensed arborist,” but it’s not synonymous with certified. A licensed arborist indicates that the professional meets all local requirements needed to operate in your state or city. Anyone you hire to look after your trees must be licensed, certified and insured to provide you with adequate protection. At BrightView, we maintain all three.

Tree workers should also be certified

Certification ensures your tree care partner has the expertise to do the job safely.
Arborists aren’t the only ones who should be properly certified. Before working on your property, be sure to ask about the qualifications of the person. Crew may need to climb trees to perform the service properly. Or in the case of tree cutting, they need to know how to cut it down safely. These are just two examples of the inherent risks in their work. A tree worker certificate shows that the crew has the necessary safety skills and knowledge of tree science to perform their duties properly and conscientiously. Each of our elevator operators and climbers is certified and required to complete annual CPR and air rescue training.

Don’t take any risks

Hiring unlicensed and uncertified contractors for tree care work can put you at unimaginable risks. To make matters worse, many insurance policies contain language that explicitly excludes damage caused by unlicensed contractors. Don’t be afraid to ask for copies of your arborist license, proof of insurance, and certification information. A true professional anticipates problems and is happy to pass on information.
